PRINCESS PARTY THEME

Party lights are perfect to create a starry princess fairy tale setting. Bunting is very regal and when placed out on the front lawn will appear as a party sign to guests. You can also use a princess sparkle curtain to create intrigue and excitement for your party guests as they arrive.

Princess Party Decorating:

Use organza to cover curtains and create that exclusive royal look adding bunting as a regal trim. If you are having a garden party you can create an Arabian princess canopy by securing four long bamboo or cane sticks into buckets of sand or in the ground. Tie organza to the corners of the top of each cane stick to create a canopy – again bunting will finish the look. Big pink satin or sparkly cushions and blankets underneath create the princess setting.

Pink party balloons are a wonderful way of decorating the room and will also be fun for your little girls to take home at the end of the princess party. Mix up a selection of pink balloons along with either a princess or heart themed balloons. Use pink ribbon to tie these onto the backs of chairs and let a few hang free from the ceiling to fill the blank spaces. Create balloon archways, clusters and columns to fill the party venue corners and doorways.

Princess Party Food Ideas:

1. Pink food is perfect for Princess parties
There are so many wonderful pink foods you can use like marshmallows, teacakes and pink wafer biscuits. Natural pink dye can be made from beetroot, pomegranate and berry juices. You can make some savoury rice by adding a drop of beetroot juice..viola’ pink princess rice! If you mix some sour cream with your tomato pasta sauce, this will create a pink pasta. Tomato sauce and mayonnaise make a perfect pink dip and helps you with healthy vegetable snacks.

2. Magical themed food
In fairy tales, princesses are always surrounded by magical creatures such as witches, unicorns and dragons. Label food after magical themes with little white labels using cocktail sticks. Sausages can be called ‘giants fingers’, green jelly ‘ogre slime’, chicken wings ‘dragons wings’, ice cream cones ‘unicorn horns’ and coconut icing ‘fairy dust’.

3. Dainty shapes
Transform ordinary sandwiches, cheese and pizzas into pretty shapes using cookie cutters. Use pink fillings such as pink tuna mayonnaise, ham or strawberry jam and stack them on tiered stands for the perfect princess tea party.

4. Princess table decoration
Serve your party feast in princess carriage food boxes, princess bowls and place mats to keep with the theme. Paper doilies are perfect to dress a normal pink table cover. Use flower petals or flowers in vases to decorate and sprinkle gem jelly sweets over the table as princess jewels.

Princess Party Activities:

Every Princess needs a sparkling crown, jewelled necklace and a tutu. Make crowns and masks by cutting out shapes from a card. Buy a craft kit and ask them to decorate their masks and crowns ready for the Princess ball.

Princess Party Games:

1. A Jewel Hunt
A treasure hunt game is an ideal fairy tale activity. Hide precious gems around the house or garden and let the girls loose with their little treasure boxes to seek out the jewels.

2. Musical Princess Party Islands
Another fun game to play is a variation on musical chairs where girls have to find an island to stand on when the music stops. Islands are so much easier then chairs!

3. Princess Musical Statues
Pretend that when the music stops, the evil ice queen turns the Princess party guests to ice!

4. Pin the Crown on the Princess
Transform this game with a wide poster that has a princess with a frog at her feet and a castle in the background. Add a pink blindfold and crown attachments. Suitable for up to 20 children.

5. Magical Mirrors
Divide the children into pairs and ask them to sit facing each other. One child can be Snow Whites evil stepmother, and the other the magical mirror. Ask the evil stepmother to mime an action – then the mirror has to mimic these actions. Whoever laughs is out of the game! Winner’s repair until there is one vs one in the final round!
6. Potato Toss Game: Instead of calling it Potato Toss, we call it “Pass The Poison Apple”. This game is great for a Snow White Princess Party. All you need is an apple!

JUNGLE PARTY THEME

Everyone boy or girl has their favourite wild animal and a jungle-themed celebration is perfect for both boys and girls of all ages. Conjure up the colours of the tropical forest and its wild inhabitants and turn your party into a roaring success with this bright party theme.

Hang green balloons at different levels to create a forest canopy and string streamer ‘vines’ between them to make all the little wild things feel at home. Put leaves and vines on the forest floor is a good jungle scene setter and a few creepy crawlies around will finish off the tropical undergrowth effect. Ask everyone to come in fancy dress or have some face paints ready for when they arrive, to transform them.

Hang an animal mask on each chair and have party blowers at their places so that they can trumpet like a herd of elephants. Serve food on colourful platters along the centre of the table, ensuring a bright spread for every eater, carnivore or not. If the weather is fine take the feast outside, packed into individual party boxes, and make the garden foliage the backdrop.

Make sure that everyone is top of the party-food chain with lots of interesting, healthy and fun snacks, such as home made chicken nuggets, fresh dips with toasted pitta bread or vegetable sticks and a fruit salad which you could serve in a pineapple shell alongside the cake. To drink, serve banana yoghurt smoothies or a mixed fruit juice cocktails in coconut cups. If the party is for a little monkey’s first birthday, then probably banana chunks will do well!

Jungle Party games:

These might include sleeping lions, a treasure hunt and hide and seek around the house or garden. There are plenty of classic games that you can tailor to the jungle animal theme, such as hanging a lion pinata, filled with goodies. Give out fun jungle party prizes for party games and make sure that there are no cheetahs…

Pirate Party Invitations:
Make an authentic pirate scroll. Draw a treasure map with your house marked by a cross, then stain it with a tea bag and leave it to dry. Fill in all the details such as date, time, location, and what to wear. Then scroll each invitation out and tie it up with some red ribbon or pop in a small water bottle before you send them out.

Pirate Fancy Dress:
Outfits for pirates are essential to make sure they feel part of the ship. A complete pirate fancy dress outfit includes a ruffled-neck shirt or stripy top along with a felt hat, red bandana, cutlass, hook and eye patch. You can even add some manly stubble by using a black eye crayon. And for girls any fun red party dress with a pirate party hat is perfect.

Pirate Party Decorations:
Wave the skull and crossbones flag, hoist the sails and put up a ‘Beware of pirates’ lawn sign to entice other pirates on board the party boat. This will really set the scene and let all your guests know where to join the fun.

Other fun decorations such as pirate paper skeletons, skull & cross bone balloons, pirate ship foil balloon and nestle an inflatable parrot somewhere in the corner. A pirate ship party decoration or opt for plain blue or black and decorate the table with shells, pearls and sand (crushed digestive biscuits). In the background play a pirate music CD and put on a pirate DVD such as ‘Hook’ or ‘Treasure Island’.

Pirate Party Food:
Meat Cannonballs, chicken peg legs, spare ribs and walk the plank sandwiches are great nibbles and can be popped in a party galleon for a picnic. Serve these with gory red tomato sauce for dipping.

Other fun themed treats such as Gold chocolate bars, liquorice allsorts black jacks, jelly bones and fizzy fish sweets. Make your own jelly pirate boats (filling half an empty orange peel with jelly, letting it set then cut into wedges). Also serve with an ice cream sandcastle (cut packaging away of a punnet of ice-cream and sprinkle with crushed digestive biscuits).

Rum punch is essential nectar for any ‘buccaneer’ using a mix of orange and pineapple juice or just plain ginger beer. For a more gory drink, make blood juice using red cranberry and raspberry juice and serve out of a large punch bowl with a soup ladle. You could even fill an inflatable treasure chest cooler with mini cans of drink and other cartons of juice.

Pirate Cake:
Every pirate needs a treasure chest cake decorated with shimmering gold chocolate coins, sweet necklaces and colourful smarties. Make a treasure island cake or add some pirate shaped candles to any cake surprise.

Pirate Games & Activities:
Unleash the energy of little scallywags with some fun filled pirate games. A pirate ship or treasure chest piñata filled with little surprises is great fun as each pirate has a go at hitting the ship until it sinks. Other boisterous games such as ‘crocodile steps’ (variation on red-light/green light) and a pirate treasure hunt. For something quieter ‘pin the eye patch on the pirate’ is a great indoor game as is the treasure game – where pirates have to mark a golden star on a map where they think the treasure is buried.

Pirate Party GiftBoxes:

Sea dogs need treasure to go home with so their party giftboxes are filled with lots of delightful valuables. A treasure chest party box is filled with pirate bubbles, stationery and other treasures from the seas such as fizzy fish and a bag of gold coins and an eye patch.
